EVERY TUESDAY The Old Marais Quarter. Circuit 1 10.30 am (all year) See description for Saturdays below Meet metro St Paul (line 1) EVERY WEDNESDAY The Village of Montmartre 10.30 am (all year) A picturesque route to see the local market street, the vineyard, old cobbled streets, artists' studios, where Renoir, Lautrec and Van Gogh painted, quiet gardens, the oldest cabaret in Paris, the lively place-du-Tertre with its pavement artists and portrait sketchers, the famous Sacré Coeur church and a wonderful view over the city. This walk will show you the local neighbourhood as well as the famous views. Meet at metro Abbesses (line 12). Take the elevator to street level, the station is quite deep. EVERY SATURDAY The Old Marais Quarter. Circuit 1 10.30am (all year) On circuit 1 we explore the Southern side of the Marais, the most beautifully preserved quarter of the city. Discover medieval houses, atmospheric old streets, beautiful classical architecture, two lovely historic churches, the antiques shops in the Village St Paul, and the place des Vosges, Paris' oldest square. A host of colourful characters lived here including Victor Hugo whose observations of contemporary life inspired his famous story 'Les Miserables'. We also hear of the area's association with the Jewish community, and see the Wall of the Righteous. Meet at metro St Paul. (Line 1) There is always a walk on Saturday afternoon. See full programme for the month for details when available. EVERY SUNDAY 10.30am The Village of Montmartre See Wednesday above. Meet at metro Abbesses. (all year) 2.30pm The Marais Circuit 2 (all year) On circuit 2 we explore the Northern side of the Marais. This beautiful historic neighbourhood was home to many colourful characters whose stories you will enjoy as we explore the old streets, elegant classical mansions with graceful courtyards and formal gardens, the old Jewish quarter with its typical specialities on the picturesque rue des Rosiers, and the superb place des Vosges, the city’s oldest square. This area is lively on a Sunday as Parisians come here for cafés, restaurants, bookstores, fashion and vintage shops, all open on a Sunday. Meet at metro St Paul (line 1) There is always an extra tour on Sunday. See full programme for the month for details when available.
